The legendary, Pikes Hotel, the first hotel to attract celebrity clientele to Ibiza and the home of hedonist host, Tony Pike, has been sold. The hotel which was founded in 1980 has been purchased by Ibiza Rocks who were renting the property, re-branding it Ibiza Rocks House. Ibiza Rocks turned the hotel into a popular, random venue, that held alternative and fresh parties in the spirit of real Ibiza. As part of the sale, Tony Pike now an octogenarian, will remain as a resident of the hotel which has hosted many decadent parties down through the decades. Owner of Ibiza Rocks, Andy McKay confirmed to the Dannykay Blog that he was the new owner of Pikes and commented; "When we took over pikes 5 years ago we did so with an option to buy. We recently exercised that option so we now own the hotel. Nothing really changes though as the founder Tony Pike remains a resident and life continues as before. To me I still see it as Tony's hotel and I always will. I am delighted that we have now secured the long term future of such an important Ibiza institution".
