Best Ibiza Club/Venue Award 2015

Our last two awards for the 2015 season in Ibiza, center on the venues and clubs that hosted the memorable events and parties that rocked the white isle this summer. A grey cloud of impending sadness hung over Space, as the much loved club is set to loose its identity and soul, as a new owner takes control at the end of next season. With some people likening the takeover to an assimilation by the Borg, the talented people at Ushuaia will no doubt make the venue a financial success. Space for the last 25 years, has been an integral part of island culture and the multi-award winning venue defined a golden era in dance for many people, especially those in the UK. Amnesia once again was the Club that packed in the punters alongside its EDM Nemesis, Ushuaia. Pacha had a profitable season also and DC10 led the way for discerning music and clubbers. Not such a good year for Sankeys, Eden or Es Paradis and sadly there is a doubt if Privilege will open next year, as the club requires emergency resuscitation at this stage. Below are the nominations for Best Ibiza Club/Venue Award and Best Ibiza Small Club/Venue Award.

                                              Best Club/Venue Award 2015

Space
The iconic venue, Captained by the legendary Pepe Rosello, will set sail on its final voyage in 2016 after chartering the electronic seas of the Mediterranean for the past two decades.  A monument to Dance Culture and its contribution in helping build brand Ibiza, cannot be underestimated. Hopefully the crowds as a mark of respect, will pack out the club next summer and give it the sendoff it deserves.

Amnesia
Music On, Cream, Cocoon and House Of Madness, were all strong performers at the San Rafel club this year and Hyte did just enough to return next summer - but it remains a risky gamble. However you have to applaud venues willing to take risks with music policy and as a commercial club, Amnesia was top dog again this summer.

Pacha.
A good year for Pacha with solid performances from a number of parties including in house productions Flower Power, Pure Pacha with Bob Sinclair and Insane, which is steadily making a name for itself. Guetta outperformed Aoki in the all important VIP revenue stakes and Solomun was busy all 20 weeks of the season.

DC10
A beacon of light for well over 15 years on the Salinas road and with the departure of Space, the venue should now be classified as an endangered species and a protection order served upon it. Jamie Jones was the highlight once again, but close up on his heels this summer was the Life and Death party with Tale Of Us on Fridays. Circo Loco is beginning to show its age but all credit to the team at DC10 for keeping it real and having everybody on their toes.

                                                           Best Small Club/Venue 2015

Es Vive Rooftop Terrace.
Beachouse
The beach venue on the island this season, serving it up to its more illustrious peer Blue Marlin with some trendy parties on the sand. Fell foul of its licencing requirements towards the end of the season with a number of forced cancellations, so hopefully it will find a way to return to winning ways next summer.

Ocean Beach Club
A revelation again this summer and has contributed to the improved product now available to clubbers in San Antonio. Loud and brash and catering to a youthful clientele, expect Ocean Beach House to be around for a number of seasons to come.

Es Vive Hotel
The Jason Bull owned venue continues to provide a stylish oasis for discerning clubbers ideally located between Ibiza Town and Playa Den Bossa. A chic venue that goes about its business without too much fanfare which is always a good sign in Ibiza. Its rooftop terrace is a great location for those intimate parties that Ibiza does best.

The Veto Social Club
A friendly, music orientated Club where its all about the people and having a good time. Open decks policy, free entry and fair drink prices make Veto Club stand out from commercial Ibiza. Audiojack was the highlight on Sundays this season and the island needs more venues like Veto to keep the real spirit of Ibiza alive.
