Four Tet Remix Winner Of Best Ibiza Track 2015 Award.
Today we announce the first winner of our Ibiza 2015 Awards and it is to the Best Ibiza Track Award that we hand out an award to. The nominations for the award are below.
Winner Of Best Ibiza Track Award 2015 - Eric Prydz Opus (Four Tet Remix)
Just when we thought Ibiza has deprived us of something special this year, Maceo Plex, unleashed the electronic masterpiece that is the Four Tet remix of Erick Prydz's Opus. An uplifting euphoric piece of work that had the real spirit of Ibiza spirit imprinted all over it. This track took us on a journey of discovery and asked relevant questions about today's dance culture. It was as if the island had whispered softly calling for it to bloom on her hallowed ground, in a temple to dance music where the modern genre was born back in 1985, when DJ Alfredo from his Amnesia pulpit, influenced the E generation that set forth like musical missionaries to educate the world. Easily the best track to come out of Ibiza this decade and it gives me great pleasure to award it the Best Ibiza Track of 2015.
Gregory Porter - Liquid Spirit (Claptone Remix)
We pinpointed this track as one to watch at the start of the season, and with House music popular this year, it was no surprise to see the Claptone remix of Gregory Porters, Liquid Spirit, make its presence felt all over the island this summer, A strong performer from the streets of the West End right up to the VIP tables at Pacha.
Format B - Chunky
Another ode to the resurgence of House was Format B's, Chunky, which grew in popularity as the season progressed, even receiving airtime at DC10, not bad for a vocal house track. Its basey, old skool and upbeat tempo, made it a favorite right across the island and became a summer anthem with its catchy "Keep heap fun till the beak of dawn" hook.
Frankey and Sandrino - Acamar
This unique and idiocentric track, was always going to find a home in Ibiza. It is the track that came closest to creating something different on the island this season and for that reason alone, it deserves to be nominated for Track Of The Summer 2015. Almost haunting, its tells a story and brings you on a journey - a difficult task for some producers today.
Hauswerks and Doorly - Swamp Donkey
This track arrived just in time to be included in the Ibiza honours list for summer 2015. It belongs to the all conquering Hot Creations stable of Jamie Jones and contains the work of well know island resident Doorly, thus its samba sound and nod to Walking With Elephants feel. Its co collaborator is Leeds producer, Hauswerks, who my Ibiza agents on the ground tell me, is one to watch out for.
Eric Prydz - Opus ( Four Tet Remix)
After the debut of the classy Conjour Baleria at the Amnesia Closing party in 2013, Maceo Plex does it again by unleashing the Four Tet Remix of Eric Prydz's, Opus, on an unsuspecting Amnesia crowd to very mixed reactions. It nevertheless is a classy remix, refreshing, euphoric and empowering, harking back to a time when music was all about love. Read more here but for now have a listen and expand your mind.......
